Upgrade
Upgrading Sukko is a single environment variable change. No data migration, no downtime.
Time to complete
~2 minutes
Step 1: Get a License Key
Purchase a Pro or Enterprise license from the Customer Portal.
You'll receive a license key that looks like:
sk_live_abc123...
Step 2: Set the License Key
Docker Compose (sukko CLI)
sukko license set sk_live_abc123...
sukko down && sukko up
Kubernetes (Helm)
helm upgrade sukko ./deployments/helm/sukko \
-f my-values.yaml \
-n sukko \
--set global.licenseKey=sk_live_abc123...
Or set it as a Kubernetes secret:
kubectl create secret generic sukko-license \
-n sukko \
--from-literal=key=sk_live_abc123...
Environment Variable (Direct)
Set on all three services (gateway, server, provisioning):
export SUKKO_LICENSE_KEY="sk_live_abc123..."
Step 3: Verify
Check the edition endpoint on any service:
curl http://localhost:8080/edition | jq .
Expected output:
{
"edition": "pro",
"limits": {
"max_tenants": 50,
"max_total_connections": 100000,
"max_shards": 8,
"max_topics_per_tenant": 50,
"max_routing_rules_per_tenant": 25
}
}
Or via the CLI:
sukko edition
Downgrade
To return to Community, remove the license key and restart:
sukko license clear
sukko down && sukko up
Existing tenants and data are preserved. If you exceed Community limits, new tenant/connection creation will be rejected until you're within limits.
